* "When I was packing his lunch the Friday morning of field day, I decided to stick a note inside. I tried to make it upbeat and comforting because I knew how much his little heart was still hurting. And sure enough, when I picked him up from school that afternoon, he said, “Thanks, Mama, for the note you sent me. It made me smile.” Read more at BooMama

* This small gesture lets them know that I am thinking of them, even though we are not together. After school, they often can not wait to tell me that they solved the puzzle or which of their friends had a joke to tell in response." Read more at Cookin' Canuck

* When we need to reconnect a little, when I fix my kids' lunches, I sometimes put a note in with them as a surprise, just to let them know I'm thinking of them, and am tuned in to what's going on at school, e.g. "I love you, and good luck on your test!" Read more at Busy Mom

* "As my kids are getting older (2, 7, and 9) I think they need that one on one time even more. They need to feel special." Read more at Cheat Day Cafe

* "I was sorting through piles OF piles in my son’s room recently. Can you guess what I found? A couple of my lunch notes to him. I figured he’d toss ‘em. Nope. Looks like he’ll have a few notes from mom is his childhood box of memorabilia too." Read more at Jenny on the Spot

* "Throughout the summer, I've been bringing them to the park so that they can eat their packed lunches outside. I've left a couple of post-it notes with smiley faces in my son's lunchbox in the past but never thought of printing out an official invitation for a lunch date." Read more at Mrs. Mogul

* "I love sending my kids off to school with a lunch that I’ve prepared for them though. I like the fact that I know it’s something they’ll eat, and that they’ll have just that tiny piece of me with them as they munch along." Read more at Mom to Three Girls

* "Life's too short to miss out connecting with our children. It's the perfect time to start! Smuckers gives us ideas, recipes, and a free site to use. I'll be printing these goodies for school lunch, that's for sure!" Read more at Cold Noodles for Breakfast

* "Once in a while I grab a little sheet of paper and jot a little love note for her. For young readers, such as my daughter was last year, notes can be a simple smiley face or heart or you can use simple phrases that they know." Read more at Multi-Minding Mom

* "I have the best memories of bringing my lunch to school because my mom would go out of her way to put special touches inside. Whether it was a sweet note on my napkin or my favorite treat tucked inside, I will always have fond memories of sitting down to eat my lunch at school." Read more at Picky Palate

Energizer Smart Charger

Help keep your life greener with the new Energizer Smart Charger.

The charger not only charges rechargeable AA and AAA batteries, but it also has an LCD display showing the amount of time remaining until a full charge is achieved, along with a gauge showing how much of a charge the batteries have.

Another smart feature is a bad battery alert on the display, which lets users know that a battery can't be charged because its life cycle is used up. It also alerts if the battery is a disposable and can't be recharged.

The batteries are charged in slow and safe cycle, which translates into longer life and many more charging cycles for the batteries.

Energizer rates their NiMH batteries with the ability to be charged up to 250 times.

The Smart Charger is ENERGY STAR certified and uses microprocessor circuitry to monitor specific battery parameters while charging.

This includes things such as voltage, temperature and state of charge, which help determine when to terminate the charge.

=======================================
Energizer is offering up a $15 Target gift card and Energizer Smart Charger to anyone who posts a blog about the following topics:

* Recapping your encounter with our Smart ChargHers at BlogHer
* Review of any Energizer charger and/or Energizer rechargeable batteries
* Why you think an Energizer Smart Charger would make your life easier

If you have any friends that would like to take advantage of this, please let them know. All they have to do is write the post and send it to wendyb@blickandstaff.com and we’ll send out a gift card and charger. This opportunity is open until August 27, 2010 (first 200 entries only).

ten tips for saving money during the back-to-school season

My 10 tips for saving money during the back-to-school season:

1. Take inventory of what you have.
2. Make a list of what you need before you even think of going out to shop. This pertains to any kind of shopping, not just grocery stores. Make notes of sizes and color preferences.
3. Know the regular prices of things so you know a good deal when you see it.
4. Shop thrift stores - You never know what you'll find and the stores add items every day so keep going back.
5. Shop garage sales - especially good for kids clothes.
6. Shop dollar stores - some good bargains on school supplies
7. Don't take kids with you. (except for shoe shopping)
8. Many items go on sale after schools start so wait when you can.
9. Check the internet for coupons & deals.
10. DON'T BUY WHAT YOU DON'T NEED. This can save you lots of money.

Win $500 for Just My Size® apparel!

$500 will buy me a whole new wardrobe. Fall always seems like a time to get new clothes. I think it's a hangover from back-to-school time (which was many, many, many years ago).

See the stylish clothes the bloggers purchased by following the links below. Share a comment on each blog for a chance to win a $500 Wal-Mart gift card to have a JMS shopping spree of your own! Ends 8/31

Kate of Fab50 was torn between “the cute drop waist gauze shirt in pumpkin, the tie-dye dress with the wood bead medallion at the bust, the white gauze shirt with the embroidery and the drop waist, The tie front shirt…" See what else she loved.

Deb of Mom of 3 Girls shares that she, “tried on a mix of shirts, shorts and pants – and was glad to have found a lot of items that I’d noticed and liked previously on the JMS website when I tried out the Mix & Match tool there.

Swistle was so thrilled “to find a bunch of stuff IN MY SIZE, I even tried on a denim miniskirt. I KNOW, RIGHT??” Check out the photos of her new look.

Nika of Nikas Culinaria likes that “the sizing was quite consistent from one type of clothing to the next. I am an extreme, no- nonsense sort of shopper and have no patience (or time!) to deal with clothing that is marked one size and is actually totally not that size once I get into the dressing room.

Dawn of This Woman’s Work really liked “the lace at the top of the camisoles and they’ll look great with a long skirt during the summer and under a v-neck sweater come winter.”

Melody of Cheat Day Cafe is excited by her new JMS wardrobe. “It always amazes me how different I feel about myself when I wear something flattering, feminine and FUN! I feel like I am saying something about myself: I am worthy. I am confident. I feel good!"

Megan of Megan’s Minute had a great time shopping. “The pieces are lightweight, very casual, very easy to wear, and very affordable. In the summer, whenever I'm sitting in my backyard, doing a little gardening or running errands around the neighborhood, I'm comfortable in JMS fashions.”

Anne of Happy Fun Pants shares, “wasn't a capri girl when I walked in the store, but I decided to try them anyway. Yoga pants? Check. Stylish jeans? Check. Trendy tops? Check. My cart overfloweth.”

Barbie of The ‘Ssippi Scoop recently said, “Remember me saying I would always have to dig to find clothes that didn’t look like something my best friend’s grandmother would wear? Well, not a chance of that with Just My Size.

(The) Jebbica not only liked their attention to detail and embellishments but “was extremely pleased with the look and feel of the JMS clothing. And the price, considering the price tags of some of the other plus-sized retailers, was extremely reasonable.”

Angie of Big Red Couch asks, “Have you ever walked into a store and knew from the moment you stepped foot inside the door there was absolutely nothing that would fit you? That doesn't happen any more. Not since I found Just My Size. I know without a doubt I am going to find clothing and accessories in my size.”

Erica of Brick House of Style “found the entire line of sportswear to be ultra affordable. The tops, leggings and shorts were very soft and size-friendly, with lots of vibrant colors. I was surprised to see that many of the pieces featured details like ruching, ruffles and even studs.”

Former Fat Chick reveals that she started, “piling the stuff into my cart and head to the fitting room-to face the dreaded mirrors. Guess what? I look damn cute! …I look like a happy woman wearing cute clothes that actually fit and are flattering. Who knew?!”
